Hi,
Was wondering if anyone has ANY info on any English version of the series that was released. THere was another post on here about the spanish audio version being subbed into english...

But I do distinctly remember watching the show dubbed into English back in the mid to late 80s. IS that version available ANY where at all? (DVD, VHS, DVD-R etc?) There's the DVD boxed set from Japan, but I don't think that has english subtitles, right?

Everything I know about the English version and TS in general can be found here: http://thundersubhq.50webs.com/info.htm

You also might want to read this: http://www.starblazers.com/html.php?page_id=100

Also about that Spanish subing thing, that was just theoretical thinking, nothing is currently being done and probably never will be.

And to answer the second part of your post:

No, not at least as new, you're only and best shot would be to actively search places like eBay (I found mine at bargain bin at some random store) and hope that you find some old VHS'. Because, as far as I know, TS was never released on DVD outside Japan (and no, the JP DVD's don't have English subtitles).

Hi! Thanks for all the info. I really apprecaite it! I guess its back to trolling through eBay for me!

It's really funny though... people consider this a rip off of that Yamato show...but from all places, Thundersub (dubbed in English) was actually broadcast on the state-run TV in Pakistan in the mid 80s. So if you were a male aged 5 - 15 during the 80s in Pakistan, chances are you were totally crazy about the show Very Happy Almost everyone remember the cartoon from taht time period!
Even though everyone who watched the show as kids are all grown up now, I know for a fact that tons of guys still remember the show fondly (probably because it was one of the few cartoons on TV at the time!). I think it was the theme tune which really stuck in everyone's head.
You've got an absolutely great site here by the way. I'm so glad others remember the show too! Funny how random stuff always resonates with you as you grow older Smile

Indeed, during the time I have kept this site going I have gotten the impression that the show was quite popular in the Middle East, while somewhat unknown in Europe and North America.

Good luck with your search!

Hi Roy,
Guess you remember the show from PTV too? I seem to remember the show being rebroadcast on the Star Plus network in 1991, but I might be mistaken. I wonder why people always remember it so fondly..... Smile I'm sure the theme would make a cool ringtone too LOL

I am looking for all episodes in english but still no luck. In mid 80s, I did record all episodes on VHS tapes but later lost them all. Its been 20 years now. If any of you come across please drop a line here.

I watched it during the 80s on PTV too. I remember it was the year Pat Cash won the Wimbeldon and Ivan Lendl finally gave up trying to win it Smile

Anyway, I was wondering if PTV would still have copies. If somebody knows somebody in PTV, that might be a place to look for it.
